History of Fred Rasmussen
Since its foundation in 1896, Fred Rasmussen has worked up a unique knowledge within technical products, especially diesel engines and geas. Fred Rasmussen started up as a bicycle dealer, and started shortly after manufacturing bicycles. In 1906, Fred Rasmussen became importer of NSU cars and motorbikes, became in 1925 a Ford automobile dealer. In 1946 the exclusive distributor agreement with Perkins was signed, in 1965 Rolls Royce and in recent years several other agreements with manufacturers of engines and other equipment for industrial and marine purposes.
Fred Rasmussen became exclusive distributor for Lombardini Marine Engines in 1998, and in 2004 Iveco (FPT) Marine Engines. Fred Rasmussen is also exclusive distributor for Perkins Sabre, Selva Marine, BCS / Twin Disc, Python Drive, PRM Newage, ZF Marine Gear.
In the 1960' ies and 1970'ies, Fred Rasmussen supplied Perkins engines in large numbers for Dronningborg combines. In these years, the departments of service and spare parts were working round the clock in the harvest period in order to be ready when the farmers needed assistance for their combine. Through the 1970'ies and the 1980'ies the fishing and machine industries enjoyed the engine expertise of Rasmussen. Without exaggerating you can say that Fred Rasmussen has played an important part in the development of danish agriculture, fishing and machine industries.
With the upcoming emission regulations adopted in the EU and USA, diesel engines are undergoing dramatic changes. This increases the demand for Perkins' distributors for technical training. With the expertise and interest in engines within Fred Rasmusssen, there is a big commitment to take up this challenge, keeping the position of Fred Rasmussen as a leading engine specialist.
After 100 years as a family business, Fred Rasmussen became in 1996 part of the CAC group, one of the leading suppliers to the automotive, industrial and marine segments in Denmark, with a turnover of 70 mio. € and 300 employees.
